There could be a connection between HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and the “Lord of the Rings” movie sequel according to fantasy geek netizens.
A Reddit user named NoMoreHodoring posted a photo of King Joffrey sitting on the Iron Throne, which could be the link between the two epic fantasy series. The Iron Throne is made out of swords of the enemies of Aegon I Targaryen. In the image, the user included an image of Glamdring, which is Gandalf’s sword. To everyone’s surprise, the swords look identical.
Maybe Not at All
According to the author of “A Song of Ice and Fire,” George R. R. Martin, the Iron Throne isn’t like what he imagined. He wrote on his blog, “It’s not the Iron Throne I see when I’m working on THE WINDS OF WINTER. It’s not the Iron Throne I want my readers to see.”
“The way the throne is described in the books… HUGE, hulking, black and twisted, with the steep iron stairs in front, the high seat from which the king looks DOWN on everyone in the court… my throne is a hunched beast looming over the throne room, ugly and asymmetric,” he added.
